DAVID Part 58

1 Sam. 25:14-17

INTRODUCTION

In the last part of this series, we learnt that a vagabond can become a disciplined soldier if he is willing to pay the price. Today, as we continue our studies, may the Lord bless us richly in Jesus Name. Amen.

1.                   HE WHO KNOWS HOW TO COUNT HIS BLESSINGS WILL KNOW HOW TO GIVE THANKS

Nabal was called a son of belial because he had three major faults: pride, ingratitude and unwillingness to listen to advice. We had considered pride in a previous study. Today, we wish to look at the issue of ingratitude. Actually, we wish to consider just 21 reasons why we should constantly praise God.

Ps. 100:1-5; Is. 55:8-9; Rom. 9:15; Jn. 1:1-3; Jn. 9:1-7; Is. 43:1-2; Ps. 23:1-6; Jam. 1:13; Jer. 29:11; Jam. 1:17; Lam. 3:22-23; Heb. 13:8; Ps. 103:1-5; Is. 59:1-2; Heb. 12:14; 1 Pet. 2:24; Lk. 16:19-24; Rom. 8:37; Ps. 18:35; Ps. 34:8; Ps. 68:19; Gen. 17:1; Ps. 23:5; Neh. 8:10; Is. 40:28-31;   1 Pet. 2:9; Mt. 20:16; Rev. 19:16; Jn. 1:11-12; Rev. 1:5-6; 1 Jn. 1:7; Ps. 32:1-2; Ps. 103:12; Zec. 2:8; Jn. 17:6-9; Is. 9:2, 6; Jn. 1:4-5; Is. 60:1

DAVID Part 59

1 Sam. 25:14-17

INTRODUCTION:

In the last part of this series, we saw that three things marked Nabal out as a son of Belial: pride, ingratitude and unwillingness to listen to advice. Today, we shall discuss the last of these characteristics of a son of Belial. May God bless us richly as we study in Jesus Name.   Amen.

1.                 IF YOU ARE WILLING, GOD WILL ADVISE YOU ALL THE WAY

It is dangerous to live without constant words of advice. In fact it is foolish to do so. Of course, the most reliable of counsellors is the Lord of hosts Himself. And He is willing to guide you for ever.

Pro. 11:14; Pro. 12:15; Pro. 13:10; Pro. 15:22; Is. 28:29; Jer. 32:18-19; Ps. 48:14; Ps. 73:24; Is. 30:21; Jn. 16:13; Ps. 25:9.

2.                 JUST A WORD OF ADVICE

God’s advice may run counter to what common sense will tell you. In fact some of His pieces of advice are really hard. But then, He is the Original Counselor.

Lk. 6:38; Pro: 11:24-25; Ecc. 11:1-6; Exo. 15:26; Ps. 111:10; Pro. 11:30; Mt. 11:12; Jam. 4:7, 1 Pet. 5:8-9; Mt. 5:29-30; Lk. 9:59-62; 2 Tim. 2:22;  1 Cor. 6:18; 1 Tim. 6:6-11; Zec. 4:6; Is. 9:6.
